At Dell Technologies World 2026, semiconductor startup Equal1 unveiled a new rack-mounted quantum computing system designed to operate within existing enterprise data center environments. While widespread business adoption is still years away, developments like these offer an interesting glimpse into the future of enterprise computing.

A Quantum Computer Designed for Existing Data Centers

One of the biggest challenges facing quantum computing has always been infrastructure.

Traditional quantum systems often require highly specialized facilities, significant power demands, and complex cooling environments that make commercial deployment difficult.

Equal1's new system, known as RacQ, takes a different approach.

The system was designed to fit inside a standard 19-inch enterprise server rack, the same type of rack already found in many data centers around the world. It can also operate using a standard electrical connection rather than requiring extensive custom power infrastructure.

Perhaps most notably, the system includes an integrated cryogenic cooling solution capable of maintaining the extremely low temperatures required for quantum processing without external cryogenic plumbing.

Instead, experts envision a hybrid model where classical and quantum systems work together.

Equal1's architecture combines conventional computing resources with quantum processors built using silicon spin qubits. Certain highly complex computational tasks could be offloaded to the quantum processor while traditional systems continue handling everyday business workloads.
